PHILIPPINE COURTIÈRE

Philippine Courtière began in law, earning advanced degrees in French and Spanish law before an internship with a perfume house redirected her ambitions. Raised around fragrance through parents working in the industry, she entered Firmenich’s perfumery school in 2008 and developed her craft under figures including Francis Kurkdjian, Michel Almairac, and Jacques Cavallier. Her career then unfolded across Paris, Geneva, and New York, whose energy and direct olfactory language sharpened her sensibility. After more than a decade at Firmenich, she joined Symrise in 2021 as Senior Perfumer, working between Dubai and Paris and deepening her engagement with Middle Eastern perfumery.

Courtière composes with intuition, refinement, and a taste for contrast, drawing on travel, art, literature, fashion, and vivid sensory memories. She is especially attracted to materials with character, including rose, leather, oud, lavender, chocolate, coffee, and tobacco, yet her work often balances richness with clarity and modern ease. Her portfolio includes Goutal’s youthful Rose Pompon, created with Camille Goutal; Chloé Atelier des Fleurs Narcissus Poeticus; and Roberto Cavalli Divine Oud, alongside projects for Widian and other prestige houses. What distinguishes her fragrances is their assured emotional presence: polished yet adventurous, culturally attentive, and shaped to feel immediate without sacrificing complexity.
