FLORENT DI MARINO
Florent Di Marino grew up amid Alpine landscapes, where early immersion in nature sharpened his sensory awareness. While studying chemistry in Nice, he discovered fragrance through a laboratory exercise at twenty and recognized perfumery as a union of scientific rigor and artistic expression, and resolved to become a professional perfumer. He began his industry career in Paris in 2010, entered ISIPCA in 2012, and trained at IFF, first in beauty care with Anne-Sophie Chapuis and later in fine fragrance under Anne Flipo. Relocating to Singapore in 2017 expanded his creative vocabulary through Asian cultures, ingredients, cuisines, and unfamiliar everyday smells.
Now part of Symrise’s fine-fragrance team in Shanghai, Di Marino brings together imaginative freedom and methodical precision. He regards structure as essential to creativity, using disciplined formulation to transform travel memories and regional materials into clear, expressive compositions. Clouds in Heaven for Scent Journer pairs creamy-green pandan with jasmine and tuberose, revealing his interest in cultural dialogue and textural contrast. His credited work also includes L’Artisan Parfumeur’s Champ de Fleurs and Mont de Narcisse, Jo Malone London’s Violet & Amber Absolu, and Roger & Gallet’s Tubéreuse Hédonie. Across these fragrances, his work stands out for curiosity, balance, and vivid sense of place.
