WHITE SUEDE

White suede in perfume draws attention to the soft, brushed texture of a leather impression. It can feel velvety and lightly powdery, with a musky smoothness around a drier leather edge. The word white suggests an interpretation rather than the colour of an ingredient. It is a useful clue for someone drawn to the tactile side of leather, though it does not mean the fragrance must be quiet or entirely free of darker accents.

A suede accord is composed from fragrance materials; it is not an extract of the fabric or hide. Musks may give it a softer outline, while rose, amber or woods can change its fullness and warmth. White suede overlaps with soft leather descriptions, without having a universally fixed formula or a strict boundary from white leather. Its character depends on the way the perfumer sets that texture within the whole scent.
