Their botanical specifications differ: IFF lists Zanthoxylum piperitum, while dsm-firmenich lists Zanthoxylum schinifolium. Both document carbon dioxide extraction, but a Sichuan pepper note alone does not identify a particular species, extraction method or ingredient in a finished perfume. Expect a citrus-led pepper effect whose balance depends on the material and composition.
