LIGHT MUSK
Light musk describes a soft, airy interpretation of musk, often suggesting clean skin, smooth fabric and a little warmth. It is more a description of texture and emphasis than a single raw material. A fragrance may use this effect to soften the edges of flowers or fruit, or to create a gently musky theme without making the whole composition feel dense.
Different musk materials bring different details. Helvetolide, for example, is described by its manufacturer with pear-like facets and smooth ambrette undertones; that does not mean every light musk note contains it or smells of pear. The finished effect depends on the chosen materials, their dose and the other notes. “Light” describes the olfactory impression, not a promise of short wear, weak projection or any particular ingredient origin.
