Discovering a New Evolution in Fragrances: Molecule+ (2021) Scents from Escentric Molecules

Geza Schoen, the mastermind behind the concept of Escentric Molecules, stumbled upon a new approach to creating fragrances with his partner’s request for a personal scent. This has led to the creation of Molecule+, a minimalist fragrance collection that showcases the interplay of two fragrance notes.

The Birth of Molecule+

Sophie, Schoen’s partner, had a liking for iris in perfumes. Schoen’s idea was to create a fragrance where iris was in the spotlight and not just a subtle note. Thus, the first Molecule+ fragrance was born, combining iris absolue with a chunk of Iso E Super, the molecule in Molecule 01. The result was a beautiful interplay between the elegance of iris and the sexiness of Iso E Super. The simplicity of Molecule 01 paved the way for the creation of a series of minimalist fragrances that would showcase the interplay of two elements.

A Series of Minimalist Scents

Molecule+ is a series of three fragrances, each focusing on a different fragrance note and showcasing its natural beauty. Mandarin is a top note, Iris a heart note, and Patchouli a base note. Each Molecule+ combines a fragrance note with Iso E Super, creating a dance of two elements. Molecule + Mandarin is fresh and punchy, Molecule+ Iris is an explosion of subtlety, and Molecule+ Patchouli comes with an emotional kick.

1. Molecule+ Mandarin: Fresh and Punchy

Mandarin is the most nuanced of the citrus fruits, and Molecule+ Mandarin showcases its fruity, fresh, and aromatic character. Schoen wanted to create a fragrance that would bring forth the child-like happiness we feel when we smell an orange or a lemon. The result is a fragrance that boings out of the bottle, leaving a refreshing and energizing trail.

2. Molecule+ Iris: An Explosion of Subtlety

Iris is one of the most expensive ingredients used in perfumery, and Schoen has used it in a concentration no perfumer in the industry would be permitted to use. The iris absolue pallida used in Molecule+ Iris costs a whopping 45,000€ a kilo. However, the result is worth every cent, with the interplay between Iris and Iso E Super creating a smooth, feminine cashmere mist that lingers on.

3. Molecule+ Patchouli: A Fragrance with an Emotional Kick

Patchouli is a natural powerhouse machine that, when combined with Iso E Super, creates a super-bomb of a fragrance. Schoen chose Patchouli Coeur, a natural patchouli with the top note stripped out, to create Molecule+ Patchouli. He then added an Indonesian patchouli with the top note intact to give the fragrance a lift. The result is patchouli as you’ve never smelled it before, naked on a bed of Iso E Super.

Molecule+: A New Evolution in Fragrances

Molecule+ is a whole new way of composing fragrances that showcase the interplay of two elements. It is neither one molecule in a bottle like Molecule fragrances nor a complex fragrance with top, middle, and base notes like Escentric fragrances. It is a minimalist fragrance that brings forth the natural beauty of two fragrance notes.

In conclusion, Molecule+ is a new evolution in fragrances that beautifully showcases the interplay of two fragrance notes. It is minimalist, elegant, and unique, giving fragrance lovers a new way to experience the natural beauty of fragrance notes.
