Escentric 03 is a tribute to the more familiar side of vetiver: its dark, slightly exotic woodiness. The fragrance opens with a burst of freshness – the ginger root is joined by top notes of green peppercorn and Mexican lime.
The heart of orris is surrounded by Egyptian jasmine and soft tea notes. Then, at the base of the fragrance, the slightly bitter notes of vetiver are smoothed by rich amber shades of sandalwood, cedar, leather and musk.
The overall impression is spicy but fresh with warm balsamic undertones, like a traditional chypre. It's sensuous without sweetness, which is a signature by perfumer Geza Schoen. And, because he also excels at unexpected associations, you may even detect a fugitive tang of ginger ale.

Born in Germany and trained at Haarmann & Riemer (now Symrise), Geza’s iconoclastic disdain for the average and willingness to work with big ideas and cutting-edge synthetic ingredients has placed him at the center of some of the 21st century’s most dynamic fragrances, from cult favorites like Boudicca Wode and Paper Passion, to the breathtaking opulence of the Clive Christian line, to the international sensation that is his bestselling Escentric Molecules brand. Never one to set boundaries, Geza’s passions often find him collaborating with artists across the creative spectrum to create madcap wonders like the Smeller (built with German artist Wolfgang Georgsdorf), a piano-like scent instrument that allows the user to play their own “aromascapes.” Sometimes outrageous, always outspoken, and truly unique, Geza Schoen is living proof that the future of niche perfume is bright.
Born out of its founder Geza Schoen’s love for Iso E Super, a strange, cedar-ish and sometimes velvety aroma-molecule that doesn’t exist in nature, Escentric Molecules has pursued a unique and rebellious vision of fragrance since it released its first pair of soon-to-be-cult-favourite Iso E-intense perfumes in 2006. Escentric Molecules’ fragrances are neither classical nor straightforwardly pretty. Instead, the molecules at their hearts (chiefly Iso but others, like Javanol, too) are designed to meld, in the peculiar way of synthetic notes, with the wearer’s natural pheromones.
