Is the plain lip color just getting too boring? Do you want to try something new and popular? Do you want to learn how to make your lips look fuller? Ombréing your lips is the answer. By using two contrasting colors, you can achieve an ombré lip that will not only make your lips look fuller, but make you feel like a professional make-up artist.
BY TERRY Head of Artistry Albane Laloy demonstrates how to create what is set to be this summer’s most ubiquitous beauty trend – the ombré lip – using the new Twist-on Lip lipstick.
How-To Create an Ombré Lip
STEP 1: PREP
Prime lips with our nourishing Baume De Rose Lip Balm. If your lips are still feeling the effects of winter and are dry and slightly flaky, exfoliate prior to moisturising using our Baume De Rose Lip Scrub, newly launched this year.
STEP 2: CHOOSE COLOUR
“With eight shades from which to choose, you’re quite spoilt for choice with our Twist-on Lip range,” comments Albane. If you’re going for a full-on summer ombré effect, our Head of Artistry recommends opting for one of the brighter dual shades such as No.1 Peach & Tangerine or No.4 Candy & Poppy. For something subtler, choose from our range of nudes, including No.7 Latte & Toffee and No.8 Cream & Espresso.
STEP 3: SET COLOUR
To ensure long-lasting hold, define lips first using Crayon Lèvres Terrybly in a neutral tone.
STEP 4: CONTOUR
Define the cupid’s bow and outer lipline using the darker shade (in whichever colour combination).
STEP 5: FILL LIPS
Fill in lips using the lighter shade (in whichever colour combination). Blot lips gently together to avoid mixing both shades together and to create a soft ombré effect.
STEP 6: REVERSE
To create your own signature ombré look, apply the lighter shade (in whichever colour combination) around the lipline, followed by the darker shade in the centre. Pinch lips together (once again avoiding mixing both shades together) to complete the look.
STEP 7: TIDY UP
To ensure a tidy lipline all day long, finish with our Stylo-Expert Click Stick applied around the lip line.
